Resonators & Spiritual Energy

Resonators and the force they wield to fend off the foes of mortals.

Every mortal is born with a varying amount of Spiritual Energy within their Soul. Some mortals naturally possess more Spiritual Energy than others. However, in the mortal realm, Spiritual Energy is elusive, and is also unable to be drawn upon under normal circumstances.Spiritual Energy is also aspected in one of the nine Concepts: Light, Shadow, Infernal, Verdance, Storm, Frost, Arcana, Celestial, or Mystic. In order to harness the power hidden inside the soul of one's self, the Nations created physical objects known as Soul Vessels. Soul Vessels allow a person to Resonate with their inner Spiritual Energy, granting the user heightened capabilities dependent on their Spiritual Energy's potential. The wielders of these Soul Vessels are officially known as Resonators: Spiritual Energy-based fighters bound by an oath to protect humanity against Spiritual foes and the inevitable Corruption.

Spiritual Resonance, Soul Vessels, and the hierarchy

Spiritual Resonance refers to the act of a Resonator drawing upon their Spiritual Energy through the use of a Soul Vessel. Soul Vessels are humanity's only means of accessing that inner power, aside from the very rare form of small, wieldable Conceptual Crystals that are reserved for Priest Ambassadors and the most powerful, trustworthy Resonators. Before the Nine Nations abandoned the Alliance of the White Flame, it was agreed upon that due to the mythic power involved with Resonating, Soul Vessels should remain highly regulated and illegal for any non-Resonator to possess. Although the Hilgardian and Lucent Kingdoms still presently abide by this sacred rule, customs at the other nations may not be the same.

The Divine Charge

Known casually as the Resonators' Alliance, the "Divine Charge" refers to the collective unified force of all nine nation's Resonators' Guilds. They can be looked at as a world defense organization in charge of all matters regarding the Deities, Concepts, and Spiritual beings. It is historrically known as "The Divine Charge" due to history caliming that such a sacred alliance between nations was ordained by the nine Deities. These words are said to be carved in stone at the "Divine Sanctum". Therefore, any nation who actively seeks to harm others is considered an enemy of the divine and must be quelled.

The Concepts, Deities, and Corruption

The Nine Concepts whose energies forged the world---and the defying force that means to consume it.

It is said that from the dawn of time itself, the nine Concepts are what brought the mortal realm to life---each Concept, ruled by one Deity. Because of this, Spiritual Energy is deeply intertwined with mortals and the realm that they call home. The Nine Concepts are situated in three categories:

The Concepts of Eternal Balance

Both Concepts of Eternal Balance bear neutrality to all other Concepts. The Concepts of Eternal balance bear weakness to one another, but also bear a unique and extremely rare interaction that only the Deities of Light and Shadow have ever been to take advantage of. This interaction creates an exponential increase of both individuals' energies, comparable to nuclear fusion. The seemingly limitless energy is balanced by each other, orbiting one another endlessly for all eternity. This combination of power, known to the modern world as Dual Resonance, is the only reason the Deities of Light and Shadow were able to defeat the Soul of Corruption three thousand years ago. This intense energy must constantly be channeled for the Soul of Corruption's imprisonment in the Duality Crystal.

The Concepts of High Order

All Concepts of High Order bear an advantage against all Concepts of Earthen Laws.Conversely, all Concepts of High Order are neutral to those of Eternal Balance.Otherwise, Arcana -> Celestial -> Mystic -> Arcana

The Concepts of Earthen Laws

All Concepts of Earthen Laws bear weakness to all Concepts of High Order. All Concepts of Earthen Laws are neutral to those of Eternal Balance.Otherwise, Infernal -> Frost -> Verdance -> Storm - Infernal

The bane of the concepts' existence

Corruption has advantage against every Concept in existence, as its sole purpose is to consume it.The unique interaction between Light and Shadow, known as Dual Resonance, is the only thing Corruption is weak to.

Every mortal is born with a varying amount of Spiritual Energy within their Soul, aligned with one of the Nine Concepts. Some mortals naturally possess more Spiritual Energy than others, and this capability seldom changes within a lifespan. A Resonator, however, can increase this capability by a small margin by continuous Resonance with their own Spiritual Energy.Despite all mortals having some sort of level of Spiritual Energy, some bear very small or trace amounts. This does not make them incapable of great feats, as these individuals can still be great fighters in terms of combat---it simply means that they are not directly involved in the Spiritual Energy system. There is a "weapon triangle"-like system that exists in this world. Certain Concepts are weak and strong versus others, and some are neutral.

Souls and the spiritual realm

Souls refer to one's pure and unfiltered energy that makes up their 'true self'. A person does not truly die unless their Soul is destroyed. A Soul can be destroyed in two ways a phenomenon known as---Spiritual Collapse, and being consumed by Corruption. When a mortal's physical body comes to pass, their Soul returns to the Spiritual Realm for Dormancy. In this state of being a Soul without a mortal body, the individual does not retain any memories nor do they have any senses. Their pure energy exists in this region solely to sleep and regenerate. When their Dormancy ends, the Soul returns to the mortal realm and the Soul is 'born again' with no memories of their past life. While in Dormancy, Souls passively collect surrounding energy in the Spiritual Realm. This strengthens the Soul and its Spiritual Density. It is important to note, however, that Souls containing very little or no Spiritual Energy do not benefit from this phenomenon.

Priest Ambassadors and Ancient Souls

Priest Ambassadors are known as the Spiritual Leaders of the Nine Nations. Each Nation has their own Priest Ambassador, and they are in charge of all Spiritual affairs regarding the Concepts and Deities. Priest Ambassadors are also the protectors of their nation's Conceptual Crystal. They are highly respected individuals, often more highly respected than the Nations' leaders themselves. They are also rumored to be able to hear the voices of their particular Deity.Priest Ambassadors are generally chosen by the density of Spiritual Energy present in their Soul, commonly sought out at a young age to be thoroughly trained for the inheritance of the official position. They are usually labeled 'Ancient Souls', meaning their Souls have undergone countless cycles of life and death, allowing their souls to strengthen over time to be able to wield the great power they wield today.Priest Ambassadors, due to their dominantly present Spiritual Energy, are often chosen as Priest Ambassadors again in their future lifetimes---given their Souls do not perish.

The Resonators' Guild

All about the processes of the Guild.

The process of becoming a resonator

The Density of one's Spiritual Energy is typically measured upon application to become a Resonator. This is the first and foremost test. This is due to the fact that a certain amount of Spiritual Energy is required to even Resonate to begin with---and if one cannot Resonate with their Spiritual Energy, then they cannot complete the bare minimum task required to be able to fight against Spiritual creatures.Once analyzed by a qualified Ancient Soul, prospective Resonators are placed in one of the following categories:INEPT
Inept describes a person who lacks Spiritual Energy or bears such trace amounts that it becomes negligible.
ADEQUATE
Adequate refers to the minimum requirement for one to become a Resonator.
PROFICIENT
Proficient are those who can wield Spiritual Energy beyond simple usage.
ADEPT
Adept individuals can wield Spiritual Weapons and are capable of aspect-manipulation.
REMARKABLE
Remarkable Resonators have no need for martial prowess and can bend Spiritual Energy to their will.
EXCEPTIONAL
Exceptional best describes Priest Ambassadors and Ancient Souls, their capability far beyond what modern-day Soul Crystals are capable of allowing.
